39 JOHN COCKERILL IN QATAR The world’s largest induced draft cooling tower will be built in Qatar by John Cockerill Hamon The world’s largest induced draft cooling tower will be built by John Cockerill Hamon for the world’s largest natural gas deposit in Qatar. Chiyoda Technip Joint Venture (CTJV), the joint venture between Chiyoda Corporation and Technip Energies, awarded the French teams of John Cockerill Hamon a major order for the North Field offshore field, the world’s largest natural gas deposit. QatarEnergy, the national oil and gas company of Qatar, awarded CTJV to build four natural gas liquefaction units and associated infrastructure. This contract included the supply of a seawater cooling tower designed by John Cockerill Hamon for the North Field East LNG facilities in Ras Laffan, Qatar. This project aims to increase Qatar’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) production by 43%. It includes a major CO2 capture complex, thus leading to a reduction of more than 25% in greenhouse gas emissions compared to similar LNG infrastructures. More than 1 km long, this John Cockerill Hamon cooling tower (112 cells) will be the largest in the world. Our Group is proud to have been selected as the partner of choice for the world’s largest LNG project and to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions.
