34 Climate change is the greatest threat the world has ever faced. International cooperation and concerted efforts from individuals worldwide are required to tackle this issue. It is in this perspective that the yearly climate conference, COP, was created. This year, COP28 was set to be held in the UAE, from Thursday 30 November to Tuesday 12 December 2023. The event registered the participation of nearly 100,000 politicians, diplomats, journalists and campaigners, making it the biggest climate conference ever held. With its strategic location, the United Arab Emirates facilitates connections to foster consensus and to accelerate inclusive climate progress. The UAE serves as a prominent center for sustainability, technology, business, commerce, and tourism on a global scale. The country has shown unwavering commitment towards investment projects aimed at mitigating and adapting to climate challenges, and more importantly, creating a positive economic impact for its people. A critical player in the region, the UAE is now calling for bolder action. This October, it launched the Net Zero by 2050 Strategy, an ambitious national drive to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
